FAQ
Questions and answers
Straight answers to the questions we're asked most. If yours isn't here, just ask.
Getting started
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the project and how quickly we receive your text and images. We agree a timeline with you at the planning stage, before any work starts, so you know what to expect.
What do I need to provide?
Your business information, the text you'd like on your site, and any photos or logos you have. Don't worry if your writing isn't perfect: light copy improvement is included, so we'll tidy up the wording for you.
Do you use AI?
Yes. We use AI tools to speed up routine development work, which is one of the ways we keep our prices low. Every project is still planned with you, and reviewed and tested by a real developer before it goes live.
Prices and payments
What costs extra?
Your package covers everything listed on our pricing page. Things that cost extra are:
- card payment processing fees, if you take payments online (these are charged by the payment provider)
- paid third-party services you choose to use, such as some booking systems
- larger changes and new features, which we quote for before starting
We always tell you about extra costs upfront, before you commit to anything.
What counts as an edit, and what needs a quote?
An edit is a small change to something that's already on your site, for example:
- updating your prices or opening hours
- swapping a photo or adding a few new ones
- changing some text or adding a short news update
Anything new, or anything that takes longer than the edit time you have left that month, is quoted separately. For example:
- adding a new page or section
- setting up online booking or payments
- redesigning part of your site
If you're not sure, just ask. We'll always check with you before anything is charged.
What happens to edit time I don't use?
Unused edit time doesn't roll over. It expires at the end of each month, and your allowance resets on the 1st.
Support and ownership
How does support work?
Once your site is live, you get a login to your client area. That's where you send requests, upload files and see how much edit time you have left this month. We handle requests during UK business hours and keep you updated as we work on them.
Who owns my domain name?
You do. Your domain name (like yourbusiness.co.uk) belongs to you, and so do any payment accounts we set up for you, such as Stripe. We just look after the technical side.
What happens if I want to leave?
You're free to leave. Your domain name is yours, and we'll help you move it and your website content to a new provider. Our terms explain the notice period.
